Lead a team of process analysts who deliver on process improvements/operational efficiency initiatives to support a transformational agenda for David Jones.

Job description

The role

As David Jones embarks on delivering an ambitious Vision 2025+ agenda, the Business Optimisation Manager will lead business-wide operational improvement and optimisation initiatives that support the commercial and operational delivery of this strategic agenda. Reporting to the Head of Strategy and PMO, you will partner with senior stakeholders across the organisation with a view of streamlining processes and creating value through process improvement and reengineering methodologies/principles. You will oversee a team of process analysts who will identify inefficiencies in systems and processes through gathering technical/non-technical information that will ultimately improve how David Jones operates holistically.

Based in Melbourne with a hybrid mix of time in the office and from home, this will suit a commercially astute process improvement and transformational leader with a passion for delivering meaningful impact across an iconic Australian retailer.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to;


  • Collaborate with leadership teams to lead the documentation of existing processes and oversee business process management
  • Plan, map and manage enterprise-wide processes and recommend improvements to business processes
  • Drive a culture of process excellence and engage the business in process improvement conversations
  • Use knowledge and understanding of process improvement approaches to coach and/or facilitate working sessions regarding business processes
  • Develop and coach, lead and oversee process analyst team
  • Play mentorship/coaching role to the business as a business optimisation expert
The successful candidate will possess the following;


  • Proven experience with process improvement, business optimisation or strategy roles
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications within business, commerce, finance and/or administration essential
  • Experience/exposure to and passion for coaching/leading teams to realise their potential
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain and filter information, identify key opportunities for improvement and recommend solutions for change
  • Experience in managing programs of work within transformational environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence key internal/external stakeholders including executive teams
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification will be well regarded
  • A passion for and experience within retail or consumer markets will be highly regarded
