Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Commercial Finance Manager to join our team in Sydney. The successful candidate will be experienced in developing distribution and logistics modelling for future growth, oversee the financial aspects of our distribution and logistics operations, ensuring efficient financial management, and driving cost optimization initiatives. POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement financial strategies to support business growth, including analysis of capital investments Build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment of financial goals with operational objectives Lead and mentor 2 finance professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for distribution and logistics functions. Analyze financial performance and key metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and financial reporting standards Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge IDEAL EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance management within distribution and logistics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven track record of successfully managing financial operations and driving cost optimization initiatives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders. Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on developing and motivating team members. Knowledge of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in financial management. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. This position provides strategic leadership and management to a team of up to 6 Associates with overall accountability for the effective and consistent execution of Merchant/Buyer operational tasks by approximately 20-25 Associates. POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Hires and trains Supervisors and Merchandise Assistants; implementation of training schedules to ensure development of their knowledge base and skill set Identifies opportunities and supports with coaching; development of leadership skills; and career progression. Oversees /monitors analysis of work streams and operational activities to ensure the team operates at the optimum level of effectiveness and efficiency across all units Identifies new trends and anticipates shifts in business needs to proactively adapt operations in support of merchant activities Works with Supervisors to ensure strong partnerships with merchants, to ensure each department receives the appropriate level of support, flexing and leveraging resources across teams to maximize capacity Key business partnership to develop and ensure execution of procedures that maximize efficiencies and accuracy for the writing and modifications of purchase orders and inbound flow Single point of contact for up to DMM for on order analysis; purchase order processes; vendor relationships; merchandise flow and buyer support Project Management supporting IT/Business initiated projects and Merchandise Operations identified opportunity projects in conjunction with GCI and key stakeholders. Partnership with merchants and key business partners in the identification and creation of OMGs, supporting documents, learning materials and SharePoint sites Triaging of business reporting with proactive issue/resolution of identified risks, and timely escalation as required Lead with, and educate the team in TJX Leadership competencies and cultural factors IDEAL EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES Tertiary education and/or equivalent experience required. 3-5 years Management experience, leading teams in an Operations or Customer Service environment Advanced knowledge of Merchandise or Buying Operations functions including following-up on delivery, and developing and maintaining excellent relationships with vendors and business partners Ability to partner and has working knowledge of how other support departments/functions assist in the achievement of Merchant and Merch Ops goals (e.g. Merchandising, Merchandise Flow, Planning, Logistics, Accounts Payable, Imports, Samples, Expenses Payable, PC operations) Excellent Communication skills - ability to listen deeply and to articulate in both verbal and written formats the best course of action for cross functional teams Ability to partner and plan effectively with up to GMM and DMM's in their business portfolios Experience in business projects (conducting needs analysis, planning skills, root cause analysis) Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, Power Point, SharePoint As proud as we are of our past success, it's our future that excites us most.
